"An absolute joy. Tina is a gifted teacher and contagiously positive"
Sing Express is a pop-up choir program that builds community through group singing.
Founded by Dr Tina Broad, Sing Express brings people together to speed-learn and then perform songs in 3- or 4-part harmony. Participants don’t need musical knowledge, singing training, or experience. There’s no sheet music: Tina sings each part line by line and the choir repeats until the whole song comes together. It’s quick: sometimes the magic happens over just one night, or a weekend, or a few short weeks. And while singers may start the program as strangers to each other, they leave as friends.
Sing Express draws on decades of scientific evidence about the profound social, emotional and health benefits of group singing. These include social bonding and belonging because group singing helps people feel connected to something meaningful, builds teamwork and fosters empathy; improved mood and overall wellbeing from the release of feel-good endorphins, dopamine and serotonin; improved memory and cognitive function; and much more.
Sing Express also draws on Tina’s personal philosophy that everyone has a voice, that we’re stronger in community, and that singing together is in our DNA.
