Tread a Little Lighter

We’re based in Milton Ulladulla on Yuin country, an area of the NSW South Coast hit hard by the 2019/2020 fires, in which three people died and more than 300 homes were lost.
"When something this major happens in a small community like ours the ripple effects are enormous. Although everyone is determined to get through it, there’s a deep sadness. The process of writing this song, as well as gathering our musical community to bring it to life, has been cathartic and healing because it’s a small way of doing something positive, together. The song and video project, Tread a Little Lighter, was launched to help lift people’s spirits and to raise awareness of Treading Lightly, a powerhouse community organisation based here in Milton. It did great things in the immediate aftermath of the fires, helping to clothe, feed, house and nurture people to get back on their feet – always with a light touch. Now it looks again to the future."
